Move Out Procedures

We will begin advertising the rental property for sale and/or rent 30 days prior to the end of your lease. We will put a lockbox on the front door so that agents may access the home for showing appointments. You will be given a day prior notice for all showings. If there are pets in the home, please ensure they are contained or removed for all showing appointments. If your home is equipped with video surveillance, please let us know so we can inform showing agents.

Please leave the following keys and information at our office when you vacate:

    • All House Keys
    • All Mailbox keys with mailbox number and location Carpet Cleaning Receipt
    • Your forwarding address
    • Garage keyless entry code, if applicable All Garage Door Openers
    • All Security System Remotes

Your Security deposit will be settled within 60 days of the end of your lease. Before we return your security deposit, we will inspect the home to be sure it is left clean and in good repair. An inspection of the property will occur after you vacate. Please pay particular attention to the following (cleaning guide attached for more detail):

    • Remove all papers and packing materials from the home.
    • Remove all picture hooks from the walls.
    • Clean stove, oven, dishwasher and kitchen cabinets and drawers inside and out.
    • Defrost refrigerator and clean it inside and out. Leave it turned on number 1 position.
    • Clean and sweep out closets; remove all hangers and debris.
    • Clean bathroom(s) thoroughly: toilet, tub, sink, medicine cabinet, vanity, wall and floor tile.
    • Make sure all light bulbs work and match. Clean light fixtures and covers. Must be appropriate light bulbs for the fixture. Example: flood light fixture needs to be flood light bulb.
    • Have carpets professionally cleaned as indicated in your lease and provide a copy of the receipt to the office.
      • If you have a pet, you will need to have a pet treatment done with the carpet cleaning. For carpet cleaning, we recommend you use Absolute Floors & More LLC 719-896-6274 as we work with them on a regular basis. 
    • Clean all windows and window tracks; leave them closed and locked. 
    • Empty and clean the garage and any storage areas.
    • Make sure the exterior of the home is picked up and free of debris. Make sure all yard areas have been mowed and trimmed, any weeds have been removed and free from pet excrement.
    • Leave premises undamaged, beyond normal wear and tear.
    • Deliver all keys and your forwarding address to RE/MAX Properties, Inc. 1915 Democracy Pt. Colorado Springs, CO 80908.

*IMPORTANT* If you have automatic payments set up through your tenant portal, it is your responsibility to cancel them otherwise the payment may continue to deduct from your account.
